OneVoice to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict

In 2012, OneVoice Israel continued to bridge the gap between the people and the leaders, focusing on a settlement freeze while grabbing the attention of Israelis in eye-catching and highly visible ways. OVI looks to repeat and exceed its success in 2013.

2013 Vision:

This year, OneVoice Israel will continue with its ongoing message and grassroots activism to unfreeze the peace process. This work will build on a broad coalition, from civil society and the private sector, as well as partners in the Knesset who share our vision. This coalition shall exert pressure on and/or provide backing for its work for their respective political leaders, pushing for tangible changes in policy and the reality on the ground.

OVI is mobilizing its grassroots infrastructure to connect with the elected representatives in the Knesset by propelling them to adopt policies that will help create a reality more conducive to the two-state solution. Through training youth leaders in the way the Knesset and political decision-making works in Israel, OneVoice looks to engage hundreds of its activists in public campaigns, legislative initiatives, and other parliamentary measures to effectively demand the creation of positive facts on the ground.

OVI will also establish chapters in new areas and reopen six more chapters in Jerusalem, Haifa, Tel Aviv, Sderot, Beersheva, and Hertziliya. OVI uses a combination of traditional, social media, and government relations outreach to get the word out on their campaigns and events.

How does the Youth Leadership Program work in OVI?

OneVoice Israel works to empower Israeli college students through a community of campus chapters, seminars on activism and team building, and a monthly youth leadership training forum. This infrastructure empowers Israeli youth leaders to promote the Movement's vision of the two-state solution and to give a voice and a platform to moderates on both sides of the conflict. The Youth Leadership Program's aim is to recruit, train, and mobilize activists to work within their own communities and to pressure political leaders to take actions that promote the two-state solution. OneVoice Israel's Youth Movement is nationwide, with four regional officers (South, North, Center, and Jerusalem) overseeing the chapters in their area. The role of the regional officer is to develop a network of chapters in his/her region.

Each chapter hosts two campus-wide activities for general members and supporters to take part in and to recruit new students, as well as conducts field activities to spread the vision of the Movement. The chapters carry out local initiatives and take part in national OneVoice Israel campaigns. The core activist leaders in the chapters attend a monthly lecture, organized by the regional officers, and take part of the Leadership Forum; twice a year, all OneVoice Israeli activists participate in a seminar on a designated topic, such as the psychological aspect of the conflict, the sources of the conflict, how to negotiate, build partnerships, and more.

OVI’s YLP goals are to:

Cultivate strong leaders and ambassadors of the two-state solution.
Inform young adults about the conflict and the core issues, and give them the tools to pay it forward to larger audiences.
Engage young adults to act and take part in non-violent activism to promote the two-state solution.

Town Hall Meetings

OneVoice worked with leading experts in the public opinion field to develop a breaking taboos methodology, which served as the basis for a public polling project and a town hall meetings series launched in May 2009. A pilot town hall meeting was conducted by OneVoice with 50 of its most advanced youth leaders from each side in July 2008.
