2010-2011: Imagine 2018

Imagine 2018 is a multiplatform campaign that depicts visions by Israelis and Palestinians of 2018 if a peace agreement is signed versus maintaining the status quo or worse.

Each side of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict feels the same way and disagrees with the other when interpreting everyday developments. The status quo is dangerously unsustainable. But strong consensus on both sides exists for the two-state solution.

OneVoice dares you to look beyond the excuses and recycled approaches sweeping the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and share a different vision of a region living in peace and security.

Visualizing life after the conflict has ended shows the tangible gains of a permanent resolution and compels compromise and mobilization by both sides to make the future happen now.

The Story of 2018

Following the emergence of the Annapolis Accords in 2008, OneVoice conceived Imagine 2018 to offer a glimpse of a brighter future and transform the sense of apathy and despair into hope and positive change.

Working in conjunction with the Palestinian and Israeli ministries of education, OneVoice launched an essay contest in classrooms throughout Israel and the West Bank, asking Israeli and Palestinian children (ages 13-17) to visualize what the region would look like in 10 years if a peace agreement were to be signed. From 2,500 submissions, winning essays were chosen on their potential to inspire citizens to build a future based on two states for two peoples.

The most creative and provocative essays were published in Hebrew and Arabic, and disseminated to dozens of top Israeli and Palestinian leaders. Following their overwhelming success and popularity, OneVoice reached out to leading Israeli, Palestinian, and Hollywood filmmakers and asked them to each select one essay as inspiration for a 1-5 minute short film.
